404-not found - quotes and descriptions to inspire creative writing
I tapped my nails furiously against the dark oak desk, waiting for YouTube to load so that I could peacefully watch Troye Sivan's new video. However the screen ended up blank except those 3 annoying words that popped up each time the WiFi was low-- 404 Not Found.
Four Oh Four - it was not found.
Time to send in the bloodhound.
I'm a "404 - not found" but not by choice. I over bake every relationship. I pour my love in too fast and they run like I'm wielding a bloody knife. It's just that the loneliness burns me and I want them to extinguish the fire but they never do. In the end the interaction just fans the flames to new heights and I am consumed once more. Then it's back to isolation, time to heal in solitude before the cycle repeats.
I'm a 404, but not by accident. Getting this lost is simple, you just walk away from everything and everyone for a short while. People are so busy you're just someone they used to know in five seconds flat. There's no need to removed yourself or your digital footprint, they just forget you're still breathing, still sharing the earth. It's not that they're in anyway bad, they just have their own shit to deal with. The 404 club is the easiest to join and there's no need to buy a log cabin in the hills, you can do it in metro New York, London or Sydney. In fact, the busier the better; be anonymous, fall off the map.
Pan grumbled, "I'm a 404. Not Found. I burnt every path to my soul so don't try to find me. Isolation is better than sitting in the shards of other people's thoughtlessness. I might live in the city, but only as a perfect sphere that moves past other perfect spheres."
404 Not Found. It's like an open cafe suddenly throwing the light switch, the waiter coming forward in the darkness to explain that the cafe was never really there in the first place. Perhaps someone once served a cup of coffee by mistake, but not anymore and pretty soon they'll be digging up the sidewalks to make sure no-one ever finds it again. The thing is, I love to find what no-one wants me to. It's like digging in digital trash, you never know what'll turn up.
404 - Not Found. I sit back in the reclining chair, a slow squeaking coming from the joint. My hand reached for the snack bowl; I think best with a chip in my mouth, the saltier the better. There is another way to get it, there must be. I'd have to get inside their sever of course, nothing is ever deleted, not really.
404 - Not Found. My eyes glaze over. "Busy server" I can deal with. "Website down for maintenance" no problem. "Not available in your area" I can get around in seconds and enjoy the process. But 404 is the bane of my online life.
