His eyes were the softest brown infused with green, as if he held the new spring growth inside. They were the forest floor and the gentle flowers, somewhere to rest and breathe.

Her hazel eyes were a melt of autumn tones, fending off the winter frost. Freckles, light, delicate; sprinkled softly on her sun-kissed cheeks. Waves of brown hair that refract the sun's gentle light, penetrating it's smooth layers. She was a Goddess on Earth, a blooming flower amongst the leaves.

From under her unkempt and dirty blonde hair peeked eyes of hazel and honey. They shone like sunlight on polished stone and hid a wealth of well justified mistrust. The connection between the child and the old woman was barely a fraction of a second but in that brief snap shot of time a secret had been told. A cry for help had been sent. The usual creases of her smile lines sagged as she took in the burden the child had passed on, then she smiled and went into her house next door to figure out a plan.

Her eyes were the color of milk chocolate edged with a deep forest-green. Sometimes the two colors seemed to swirl together like moss creeping over rich soil. And when she smiled both colors ignited with a glow dazzling him with the warmth of the deep brown and the seductive green dancing around its edge.

It was her eyes more than anything that gave her away. Providence had seen fit to give Tamara olive skin and black hair, but in a twist of spite had made her eyes every shade of pale and golden brown spreading out to a darker brown boarder. Worst of all there were flecks of blue. People would talk to her in the open unguarded way that was their culture until they saw those fragments of sky and amber. Then they would stiffen up and take a wide path around her the next time they met. Blue eyes meant she was of their enemy. She was living proof of the raid sixteen years previously that defiled so many women. Over time she had developed the habit of averting her gaze and to the others it made her all the less trustworthy.

But her eyes... Her eyes were a brilliant hazel. When she was jovial they were warm, lively, and sparkled with mirth. When she was downcast they seemed to grow dim and dark. The smooth green on the edge contrasted beautifully with the amber color in the middle, capturing the heart of any man who gazed at her.

He was mesmerized by the deep swirls of brown that colored her pupils. The golden black mascara on her half-opened eyelids added a smoky and dramatic look. With her honey-colored eyes and long eyelashes, her eyes looked like a cat's.

The cat-like eyes seemed to look through the dark recesses that was usually hidden behind a mask. Her feline features somehow matched her personality- silent and alert but almost unnoticed. When her sexy stare fell upon him, he looked away, catching the eye of his girlfriend.

When he looked at her again, her eyes were like a multi-colored fabric for it was now a light green. His girlfriend nudged him and said grudgingly, "Her eyes aren't really hazel." I didn't say anything. "She's wearing contact lenses. See that shine in her eyes?"

"Got a nice shiner goin', kid. What'd you do, piss off a rhino?" I asked as Mark hovered awkwardly in the background, still reeling from the blood coming from Evan's nose. He grunted quietly and turned the bruised eye toward me, letting me press the ice pack into it, before opening his uncovered eye and looking up at me through his lashes. Even with the other one injured, I could tell it, too, was probably picking up the green of the shirt he wore today and throwing off glints of that color in combination with the almost amber-brown shade of the rest of his iris.

"Actually, I got into a fistfight with some dude before I got up here, but thanks for asking." Evan's lips pursed slightly, as if waiting for me to tell him off for hitting someone, though I could read his true emotion in his eyes. Well, eye. The sudden flashing of golden flecks implied that he was almost daring me to yell at him, but knew that I wouldn't. Couldn't, really; he reminded me of me a lot of the time.

Lila had eyes of the sea and wet pebbles. The centre was all pebble, soft reflective browns, spreading out to waves of sea blues and greens under an overcast sky. The outer edge was rimmed in deep ocean blue, but the over all effect was of hazel eyes, the brown elements being more dominant since they complimented her hair and the freckles that lay over her the bridge of her nose.

Autumn's eyes were all coffee browns. The centre was a bright mocha, chocolatey and bright. After that it was all latte until the rim of dark roasted beans.

Rose's eyes weren't like the wet bark on the oaks, but more of the soft brown rings that gave away the age of the few they felled. Combined with the gentleness of her features and honeyed skin, she could soothe anyone. It was a skill that came to be more treasured than any other. In those brutal times there was nothing anyone could want more than to be with a natural born nurturing soul; and no-one was better than Rose.

In front of me, waterfalls are reflecting the sun I'd seen that morning, but not in the sky, but in the curls of a young woman. Small eyes were hidden by the hair. They are a deep forest surrounded by wet dirt due to summer rains, and now the sun's forming above all, dripping honey and illuminating the world. It's the first time I see paradise in soul windows, only one eye bearing so many colors, still, with so many emotions and words, none could describe such beauty contained in so few genes.
