I walked in. The bell on the door jingled, but nobody looked up. They were busy carefully filling orders, pouring tablets into brown plastic bottles, screwing the caps on. Slightly solemn, but probably incredibly stressful. The smell has never left the place - a slight but distinct sulphurous odour, a hint of cheap perfume. I remember the smell from my childhood.

I felt really bad leaving Alex at home alone, but I only left just so that I could make him feel better. After parking my car and locking it, I entered the local pharmacy. The smells of all different kinds of medicines greeted my nose. The cashier waved at me from her post and I smiled back. Music played through tinny speakers as I browsed the shelves of the right medication.
