salad - quotes and descriptions to inspire creative writing
It was a kitchen sink salad. Everything was in it but the kitchen sink. There was lettuce, cucumber, tomato, apple, walnut, toasted seeds, fresh herb leaves, cheese, celery and radish. The salad was tossed in a rich creamy dressing and served with fresh bread. Delicious.
The salad was mostly crisp lettuce leaves tossed in a creamy cesar sauce, served with buttery garlic bread. Ali knew it was probably more calorific than a burger and fries, but she didn't care. She loved the leaves and the crunchy croutons. She loved the cold sliced chicken and avocado that lay on top. In no time at all the salad was gone and her mind turned to dessert.
The salad was limp. The lettuce had that wet look, the look it gets when it's been kept in a plastic bag too long and it starts to smell like grass clippings. The cucumber was laid over the edge of the white plate like some kind of Salvador Dali clock. The tomato appeared to have been aggressively severed with a butter knife into it's uneven chunks. Cheese cubes had been tossed on the top and in the middle was a repulsively large dollop of what looked like mayonnaise. It was what every salad shouldn't be.
