Dear Lord,
This thanksgiving may we learn to thank through giving,
May we learn to give of ourselves in heart and deed,
May we learn to choose love over money,
May we seek to look at others with eyes newly opened,
Through new perspectives of loving compassion,
With a strengthened sense of empathy,
With new resolve to turn the other cheek.
This thanksgiving may we learn to walk more as Jesus did,
With a sense that his duty was one of service to the poor,
That he sought not to comfort his own ego,
Yet to raise the glory of His wise words of love.
May we recall this thanksgiving that all we have and all we are,
Is a gift of our creator,
That it is God to whom this planet and all that it contains belongs to, not we.
May we learn to look again at creation and ponder how much God loves His animals and plants,
May we learn to wonder how His heart must break at its destruction,
May we learn to wonder how His heart must break at its pollution,
May we learn to see nature as His church and not desecrate it so.
This we make our vow to God the Creator of Heaven and Earth,
Amen.
