The rules and pressures of our western society create a maze with ever moving walls, one with the perimeter ever decreasing. But like any animal or substance squeezed into a smaller space, eventually the internal energy will defeat the external pressure - and that my friend, is revolution, sharp and violent. That's why we're taking down the walls a piece at a time, randomly, quietly, letting pressure escape nice and slow. That's social evolution, gentle and peaceful.

It is an odd thing in western society that we cast out our teenagers into the big wide world so eagerly, instead of keeping them closer as is more common in Africa and other cultures. I see the anxiety in the young, the knowledge that at a certain age they are expected to leave those that raised them. It is a world where failure can mean starvation, homelessness and lack of health care. It is a world that measures their worth based on their income rather than the content of their character. The freedom to leave if they wish, the expectation to work and help out, are both good, but to openly desire the departure of one you have held as a baby is strange. Everyone matures at a unique rate, everyone has different tolerance levels for risk. Sure, sometimes a baby bird may need a loving shove to discover they can really fly, but that's different from them feeling unwelcome to return.

We are told to be grateful to live a country where ours door cannot be kicked down and our children are safe. Should I thank my loving husband for not being a Hollywood monster? Should he thank me for the same? No. Love protects. Love defends. We are society and we must expect decency and safety as basic God given rights. We must trust others and raise our expectations.

Our society is swimming in so much glamorized violence that we are constantly "enjoying" the very means by which they control us. We are shown torture, abuse, murder and rape over and over while we eat popcorn and chocolate, enjoying the warped sense of relief that comes after - a high of "escape" without a real chase and a further erosion of our faith in human nature. Then we see the news, real death, real rape, real murder, spliced with stupid happy stories and adverts for products to make us "happy," "desirable," "sexy," "loved."

Our brains are so confused, the violence in the movie was fun because it is horrific, the violence in the news is terrifying because it is horrific, yet we watch it with the same addiction and then shop like the adverts directed us to. It is spiritual suicide for us, profits for the elite. We are misdirected with false ideas delivered by smiling models. In Truth, Love cannot be boxed with ribbons, Love cannot be symbolized by a diamond mined by slaves. You are loved for just being you. You are already special, irreplaceable, unique, we all are.

We wonder why our relationships fail. We try to buy each other's love at Christmas, at birthdays and feel empty the second the parcel is opened. Love was not in the box at all. We need to understand that true Love is inside us, it is freely given, our birthright. We need to understand that Love is true strength, it is strong enough to bear the foundations of a new society that lives in harmony with the planet and all sentient life. Let Love flow through you, heal you, make you whole again. Let Love show you the beauty inside...
