In this atomised society the TV anchor has become an emotional anchor for us atoms. Perhaps this is why so many are so adamant in their loyalty to the words they say without logic or reason. They respond as if this person is the anchor of their emotional ship, as one would with a beloved and respected family member. It's either them or the world of influencers, each becoming ever more extreme to differentiate themselves from others. And if these TV and internet figures are the anchors for so many different societal groups, and if their survival depends on creating shock and friction, then it is little wonder society is so unsure of one another.
