Creatives Teaching Creatives

When creatives teach creatives something magical happens. The student sees themselves both in the master artist and, importantly, themselves as a future master of the craft. After all, every master was once an apprentice. We all begin somewhere, wondering if we have what it takes to become great. This is especially true in a world where generative AI will become our great asset and our great challenge. AI can help a poet or a writer with few resources put together a website to sell their HI etchings of the heart, yet we still need the ability to write as creatives.

Humans have been telling stories for thousands of years as an essential aspect of culture and health. We mostly learn better through stories that role model good behaviour than from direct instruction. We need to feel that we made a choice, that our free will was respected. This will continue even if the machines can do it too.... and they can! Thus, during classes the student learns not only that they can become a real writer, yet also why they should care about it the age of AI.

They get to see another creative love what they do, to want to be that way too, in love with their art helping others.

It's why we do what we do, and will continue to.

Creatives can inspire a love of literary craft in the next generation.
