--- Creative Writing on Winter's Trees by Angela Abraham ---
Cold winter light giggles brightly all around Winter’s trees. Of new leave’s they dream, with new buds they scheme, to regenerate Spring from Frost’s grasp. Root’s holding strong, bark biting back, it gives Old Man Winter a well earned heart-attack. For March has marched long, all hear the opening note’s of April’s sweet song, and these arboreal guardians stand firmly determined. With avian confidants they weave lyrics of magic, lyrics that sow warmth in Sun’s motes. Then with no shiver, no shake or core-quake they are as patient as a flat-valley river.

Winter's trees stretch beneath snow with ease, its brown wands playful and patient. For all feathered so white on days that wax grim-dim to bright, there is nothing to do but daydream. Cold wind's bite they de-fang with their very own bark, it's fingerprint a braille tongue-lashing. Even as the frost layers as moss, as ice-armor plates cover earth, they stand in supreme arboreal self-worth. Rest assured that under that snow they dream of Spring's storybook, of green leaves that turn greener and blossoms as the season's new narrators.

In a snow-storm night of mischief-muddles, the evergreen trees did hero-huddle. A forest, you see, can choose to cuddle. Brave needle-leaves poked back the freezing fog-shroud. Valiant tops whipped clouds to slate-froth. Twigs rustled indignantly even as they granted birds shelter, even as they rerouted rude winds down their helter-skelter. Doubtless Winter felt its storm was mighty grand, yet in conclusion the trees found it a cheap slight of hand. Upon the storm passing they stood smirking-majestic, having stolen Snow's beauty for their own trim-tailoring, sporting bespoke-cloaks of mountainside dreams .
