It was the swelling of the flower buds, blushed in pink-peach hue, that was the hush of winters song and the start of seasons renew.

Come the springtime our love was as the buds, opening slowly, praying for the sweet charity of soft radiance.

Inside the protective layers of green, are the colours that will ignite the spring into the vibrancy that lives in my memories. As they grow I will welcome the first colours as much as any bird welcomes the first cracks of her opening eggs. For from those timid vibrant stripes comes the new flower, the new sweetness unto the world.

Think not that the bud isn't ready, nor that beneath the petals are not perfect. Think of it as art ready to bloom into a sun ready to give of its light. Think of it as the flower it already is, perfect within and destined to open. It is the promise, the hope within that is born to seek liberty and to be a giving part of our world.

The dew and the bud are the sweetest chorus of the dawn, as if they were always supposed to be together, water within and around. Inside is sweet aromas and petals of finest natural silk. It is a perfection to compliment the halo of buds around it, each of them a part of the beauty that is spring.

The flower that had been a tight bud only days ago had begun to open, already had a deeper blush of pink. The winter should still be in force but already spring had pushed it back to moderate temperatures and the kind of gentle breeze you don't notice unless you stop and be present in the moment. Ruth stretched out her fingers to touch the silky pink petals, they were cooler than she'd expected, smoother too. She tried to will it to open faster, to see the beauty she knew was inside. But nature has its way, its timing, and she wasn't ready yet. A few more days of warmth and it would bloom, she just had to wait.

To command a flower bud to open is foolishness; to neglect or unappreciated it is to squander the essence of creation. The flower bud, in the rain and sunshine, rooted in the healthy earth will do nought but bloom and give of itself. To attend to the flower bud and nurture it, patient and appreciative, feeling the sacred gift is to be one with the essence of creation, to be a part of that which is the flow of love.
