She was in a box. Such a simple idea but it liberated her. She had lived all her life in the bland cardboard walls of her small town and never peeked over the edge into the world beyond. She was trapped in an intellectually incestuous world of people that just ran about re-enforcing each other's bigoted opinions. It was just a hive mind. These folk weren't the bastions of truth and the only correct way to live, they just insulated themselves against opposing opinions and never even considered evidence that contradicted a dearly held principle. She was gay but that didn't mean she was going to hell. That was her epiphany. She reclaimed her Bible from the box of books she had planned to donate and wrapped it in a soft blanket before placing it in her otherwise empty suitcase.
