There was a solitary Eucalyptus tree in the otherwise barren yard. I stumbled over to it, seeking whatever shade it could provide from the midday sun. The lower trunk was a pale brown with no branches at all and at about the height of my nose it split on two. The top was a mass of arrow-head shaped leaves, dark green and inviting. I was about to climb up when a soft rustling noise from above told me I was not alone. I stood stock still, gazing upward, at first seeing nothing but the mass of green. Then following the movement in the leaves some grey fur appeared, then two dark eyes. It was a Koala.
