Marcia cast her eyes at Josh just long enough to catch his red-rimmed eyes and downcast expression. She bristled. Empathy wasn't her thing. Either Josh could provide a romantic evening or he could not; he wasn't the only guy in her "directory." He sniffled and gave her a soft apologetic glance. Marcia pursed her lips, time for a new tactic. "Oh, Josh, I have the most terrible headache. You know how I feel about you darling but let's do this another night?" She gave him a simpering smile with partially raised brows and thought about giving him a quick perfunctory kiss before retreating to the kitchen to pour a glass of wine and stare out of the window until he got the "message."
