I imagine walking out of my home and sitting upon the street in the cold. I imagine that my home is no longer my home, that it has been taken away. I imagine my clothes, my belongings that I cannot carry are all gone. I imagine having no access to food, nor having any right to eat. I imagine night comes and this is still true. I imagine sleeping in the cold with no bed, no walls, no door. I imagine this lonely existence with no friend nor family. Then I imagine how many don't have to imagine this nightmare... because they are living it, trying to survive it or recovering from it. How can a civilisation be civilised when all of this is one bad turn of happenstance away for so many of our nation? How can we say our nation is a family when this can happen to one of us?
