My Lurcher is such a Celtic influenced dog, she's a mixture of this and that, the same as the rest of us in the British Isles. And what's more, she's all the stronger for it, all those long separated gene lines coming together to make her fast, healthy and smart. She ain't no pure bred, that's for sure, but she's all the better off for being a great mix.

She sprints with that classic back arch, racking up speeds other pooches only other sight-hounds can match. That's Lurcher's for you, born to run.

My Lurcher is a couch potato all the day long until we get out in the open, then she's a blur of long limbs and with her great arching and stretching back. She runs as if her paw-strides were a sort of laughter, a kind of joy she can only express by sprinting so very fast.

My Lurcher was born to walk his own path as the rest of us were, so those times he lives up to his name and leaves me "in the lurch," its just him showing his own brain and thoughts. He always returns once the squirrel or whatever it was has escaped, running in those gleeful bouncing strides.
