Dr Sam took the podium, "In the year 2020, some time ago now, eh?" pausing before continuing. "In the midst of the pandemic, a new mental health treatment arose. When patients showed a detachment from reality, especially in the high cortisol induced psychosis, they had them read and talk about academic subjects of interest to them. This had the effect of reigniting the prefrontal cortex analytical and logic abilities. This ability was then transferable to their emotional centre, their empathy and gave them a chance to confront their own delusions or paranoias. When combined with creative arts therapy people learned how to better regulate their own stress response, thus protecting themselves and achieving true recovery."
