scent of flowers - quotes and descriptions to inspire creative writing
The bridesmaid held the flowers as if they were joy fashioned into delicate petals, as if love had been transformed into their fine aromatic perfume. She peeked around the church, at the hats and the dresses and the suits... but mostly she was soaking in the atmosphere, an energy that made her giggle and her little body keep on moving even if her feet were still.
The art on my wall is beautiful in its corporate way. The flowers are white and the yellow nectar looks sweet. The petals fan widely over the canvas and sometimes when I pass it I think I can almost detect a fragrance. On the top is a layer of dust, I guess I should get to that. I've moved around al lot, from coast to coast, but wherever I go the picture goes too. It has adorned bedsits, condos and now my home. It reminds me of the store I bought it in, not much more than a warehouse with music pumped in; but that isn't why I love it. There's part of me that needs nature in my home, even it is only a poor imitation of the real thing. If I could afford real blooms I'd have them every day, then the scent would be real instead of wishful thinking.
The air was perfumed by the heavy scent of the lilies. Their white petals were striking against the backdrop of stone walls, simply beautiful. On closer inspection I could see that their stamens had been removed. Reaching out a hand to the delicate snowy petals I knew that this would be the last time I could enjoy this flower, after today it would forever remind me of the I had to say goodbye. It's scent would forever be sickly and repugnant.
The flower's danced gaily in the breeze, a myriad of vibrant colour. For the old lady it was an aroma evocative of summers past and it transported her a childhood spent in the countryside. How she missed that scent.
