The average member of the race had a build vaguely resembling a shorter agile human. Their skin was coated in dull, red-to-brown scales. The scales resembled ashes of a foreign wasteland, or perhaps a volcanic rock hidden away. Their ears were shaped like crinkled leaves, as if a child just learning to write had taken their unsatisfying writing and crinkled it in their small hands. Distinctive markings covered their faces, necks, and bodies. They traced them as if the race itself was a copper wire with twines of each delicately made copper wire twining into each other. They had muted, and cat-like eyes, the color of brunt saffron. Their thin pupils touched both top and bottom of their eyes. Their lips fickle lines, drawn by a child who had crinkled their ears.

Makki quietly licked his eyeballs. He always did that when he was anxious. Extending his neck a few feet he peered out of the skylight. If the aliens smelled too good he knew he would eat them, which was a pity, he really needed this business deal. He sank back to the chair and checked his figures, the numbers sang to him as they always did. He twisted his tail in a knot and licked his eyeballs again. Then he heard the crack of a twig behind and swivelled his head 270 degrees in search of it's origin. Usually he could manage well seeing through the walls with his infa-red but these visitors had evolved from lizards and that made them hard to detect.
