Sustainable online shopping was different to what we had in the past. Before it was all, "You need this blah blah," "You need that accessory, blah blah." Now it was all like, "This is a great sweater, but here, take this quick quiz to see if you really need a new sweater or not." I gotta say, it was better for the environment and the companies who were early adopters of the method did far better in the long run.

Sustainability in online shopping was about more than cutting out excessive resource use in affluent areas, it was also about giving back and starting to even things out. Some companies donated items per sale into areas of poverty, some put a hearty proportion of sales into funds that went into building up impoverished neighbourhoods and struggling nations. It worked because we started to realise that we are in this together: one species, one planet, one shared future.
