unresponsive - quotes and descriptions to inspire creative writing
Their eyes were lifeless. The spark that existed before had vanished. There was nothing left, not an ounce of life in their eyes. Their lips and cheeks were the color of a beautiful bride's wedding dress. Their lips were slightly perched open, but nothing but a small noise came out periodically. The sound they made was a relief, but nothing more than a relief. It would be foolish to call it comfort. They spoke nothing, and they looked off into nothing. They were becoming nothing. Their head was slightly tilted, and their mind must of been blank. Their mind was either soullessly blank, or completely ravaged by thoughts that tore at the very synapses of their brain, leaving them unresponsive in my presence.
We had thought Ted was asleep on the couch, but when his hand toppled over the edge and his whole arm swung down and hit the tile he didn't stir. We shut off the TV and rubbed his shoulder, his body was loose. He fell to his back with his head craned right to one side, mouth slack and open. We shouted at him and slapped hard, still nothing. Then we panicked hard and called an ambulance. He was still warm but his pulse felt thready. We sat and looked at each other until the paramedics arrived to take over. Martha burst into tears when she was asked questions, even what his name was came out in a croak.
The paramedic raised Eddy's had above his face and dropped it. It hit him as hard as a lump of free falling meat and bone, which it was. "He's out cold." she said. Then "Eric open your eyes." He did not. She pinched his skin hard and he made no movement or gesture to stop her. He didn't even move away. "Totally unresponsive," she said, and made a note on a sheet.
