The greatest mistakes you ever make are when you only use see thing through the lens of your own need. To really mature, to be the kind of person who makes life better for others, you must see through the lens of their need too. You can view history this way too, what did the conquers think of themselves and how did it work out for the native populations? Isn't capitalism this way? A mechanism to grab and centralise resources no matter the harm done to others? Love enables our empathy, it allows us this view from the needs of others and gives the ability to make better choices for everyone.

Being mature is a lot about flexibility, to be the lamb in certain situations and the lion in others... still leaving room for yourself to play as the cheeky monkey, protecting your family as a good wolf and being as sociable as our tribal ancestors, remembering our humanity and all that is great about us. So be everything depending on what is best for the situation for others and yourself, "change gears' between these different versions of you as a response to your environment. Be a creative problem solver with love as your highest priority, and then you'll be okay... able to find the best solutions and trusted by others.
