The man's eyes widened, watching me, his face was innocent but he had a nerve-wrecking chill about him. He stood with a hunch, leaning slightly towards me. His mouth was watering a little, I quickly became unsettled by how uncivilised the stranger seemed. "Do you have a telephone?" I asked him, making sure not to move any closer. He laughed. The laughter was childish and mischievous, I wondered if he knew how to speak at all, and questioned why I had entered his home so carelessly. I started to study him, he looked messy, asif he hadn't bathed in a while, this led me to notice a musky smell of dirt and mould around me. His hair didn't look greasy, just wild and un-groomed.

The cannibals operated a home for runaways, a charitable foundation. They knew not to be greedy, take too much and the FBI would come knocking. They chose their meals by committee. It was important to select the ones with least social contacts. Members that were in the force checked for the filing if missing persons reports and the social worker interviewed them for backstory. Once selected they were dosed in their nightly warm milk and never awoke. They were taken to the village butcher for processing and the remains cremated. For twenty years they had remained undetected, in this town they were the authorities and they could put any unwanted scrutiny on ice.
