General

For so long in society there has been a cap, a restriction, on how female women can be. We are supposed to all want to become business women and such... and I did... I am... but not in the way that men are. We are supposed to be type A personalities, not "Sally home-bakers"... but I am both, I just switch gears between them as women do. I was a "tom boy" that climbed trees, fell out of them, then climbed higher... that made mud-pies and built dams in streams... who rode motorbikes with an instinct that many consider so boyish... The one thing it felt as if I never had cultural permission to be was female-female, to explore and find comfort in being girly. That's the gift you gave, you drag queens. I love dresses, and make-up, high heels and great hair. It feels good to move in such female ways. My body language can switch gears into what most would consider "camp," but it just feels right to my soul. It is perhaps a sign of how broken this world is that women need lessons in how to have full pride in being a woman or girl, but in my case, I feel that it is true, and I find it easier to take those lessons from you than a traditional "beauty queen."

Keep on being so very fabulous darling drag queens, for you are rays of pure light in dark times.
