When the furlough scheme came to an end we diverted the money into higher education provisions to train people for the changing economy. We were going to need more nurses, therapists, teachers, horticulturalists, trades people, technology experts and creative arts/entertainment industry professionals. A free education in that area along with a study-grant goes a long way to helping folks make that transition. After all, ghost companies need to go sooner or later, and it was better for us all to start training for the future all the sooner. It was great for the education sector too, it really saved so many of our institutions.
