Societal snap snaps society.

This makeup is part of our lineage, to our beloved ancestors. To wear it is an honour I feel in the deepest part of my soul.

Makeup brings out my more feminine self, my self confidence too. There is something about it that raises my self esteem and sets me up right for the day ahead.

Makeup perhaps was once a form of "lets pretend," a chance to experiment with the "me" I would become. Now that I have grown and have established my adult self, makeup is my way of telling myself that I am still worth the effort, that I am right to take care of myself. I prefer a fairly natural look. I'm lucky that my own skin is a good every-day foundation. Humans, especially women, have preened for eons this way. It is our peacock self for sure, but in that there is a biological need, an aspect that has evolved with so many species. Feeling good matters. Feeling accepted matters. For most, feeling attractive matters.

When people feel better, they behave better... and makeup has played a huge role in that for all of human history. So, though some may see makeup as frivolous, the degree a person needs it tells us important information as to how society and culture has made them feel. How much effort do they need to make to gain self esteem and allay fears of societal rejection? This is a subconscious cost-benefit analysis. We are hardwired to seek such acceptance from a group or tribe - preening is one way to seek it. So, the intelligent doctor of society sees the symptoms and addresses the real cause. Emotionally secure people's neurology will make less effort on preening when they feel assured of their place in society. And, whist makeup itself is totally okay, the beauty industry is causing massive harm on many levels. We need balance. So, again, love and compassion are the answer.

Makeup as art is an incredible way to express creativity - to make the human the canvas and express inner truths for all to see.
