The peas were my love of the late summertime. I would watch the pods grow until I was sure they were sweet within. They had a fragrance that lingered with me, a memory of those warm times. For when such small things can bring happiness, a person can remain content in their soul for always.

The peas grow sweeter in this summer sunshine, developing their comforting green hue within each pod. I have watched the plants rise from the gentle soil into the air, welcoming the rain and the warmer days all the same. They are the goodness, the blessings of the natural world. I smile, for In these simple pleasures we are free, separate and together as those garden peas.

The peas are nature's gift to the children, each summer they run through the gardens and eat them as sweet snacks on the go. They come in such perfect packaging, protecting the goodness they keep within. Yet with one squeeze of a child's hand they open to give all they have. And so these summer vegetables have a special place in my heart.

The peas were green globes in their pod, every one as perfect as any pearl. There would be a shimmer to them in the strong summer light and each was as glorious to taste as any fine dining ever could be.
