There is not a pill in this world, dear psychiatrist, that can rewire my brain. That's what my writing is for, that is what art does, that is what exercise enhances, that is how humans evolved... In more relaxed and loving cultures there is no mental illness. So, seeing that what I really need is obvious, I'll be writing my own prescription if you please.

Psychiatry ignores what the brain needs most to thrive at its peril - loving and supportive interactions, the reduction of stress, the kind of art that heals. Sure, a few sugar coated leeches may do as an intervention measure, yet the real cure can only come when we cure society as a whole.
