General

The Psychiatrist was a black man in his late 40's and as he spoke I could here the Caribbean lilt to his voice. His suit was somewhat shabbier than I'd expect for someone of his pay grade, but then maybe that was deliberate. Maybe he didn't want to put his patients off by being too showy. Most of the time he glanced at his paperwork, scribbling this or that, then occasionally glance up at me with a question or comment. I wondered if all this deliberate looking away was supposed to put me at ease, make me feel less threatened, like the shabby suit. I liked him, his manner and the run down office. He must have some sort of calling to be here with these patients and not in some sort of swanky upscale place.
