The riches he had amassed were supposed to bring him peace of mind, by now he had expected to feel relaxed but nothing could have been further from the truth. He worried about loosing his wealth and having to start all over again. He worried about how to grow it, and fretted over the security of his investments. No longer could he know that his friends were there because they really liked him and slowly the money poisoned the relationships that had sustained him through his adolescence into adulthood. The padded bank balance couldn't relate to his problems or give him a hug, it didn't call him to invite him snowboarding or biking. It never surprised him with concert tickets. Then one day he called up an old school friend, someone who didn't know his monetary worth and went to a cheap bar. They laughed like it was going out of style and had more than one too many. Slowly he built a new life. The day after he was married, without a pre-nuptual, he told her working was optional
