"Often the best story writing help I can give anyone," said the professor, "is to remind them that humans have told stories for millennia, long before anyone could write or spell words. They told stories to bring societal peace and cooperation, to spread love and teach of bravery. So, it's within you, what you need to do is learn how to let go and let the part of your brain that dreams find its way through to your pen."

The best story writing help I can offer is to let your emotions shine a light on what you really feel, then use that gained wisdom of the self to offer greater empathy to others. For when you see the perspectives of all, story writing becomes so much easier. That's when you can see the human struggle in all of your characters, how their experiences have given them both insights and blindspots.

When you let yourself dream during waking hours the stories will flow, you will draw your daydreams in blessed ink upon a page. You can then read your metaphors for what they really say and thus learn about your deepest emotions. For this telling of stories in ways other than the obvious message of the words is how stories help us heal as writers and readers.

The best story writing help I ever heard is simply to let go of formal structure and tell your tale. It is later you can sculpt it as a sculptor works on clay, creating the delicate features and form after your brain has created the "lump of clay."
