The scene was quite unbelievable, shocking really. My mind was sent reeling, unable to comprehend or process the images it was being sent by my eyes. I looked away, then looked back to see if it was still there. It was. Then my training kicked in, I was trained to deal with this kind of emergency.

I'd told him to leave. I said I didn't love him anymore, we were through. I was holding him back. He's got an IQ in the stratosphere and yet he sticks around so I can cry on his shoulder. He feeds my kid, it's not even his. He brings her toys and spoils her with shoulder rides whenever she's to whiny to walk. He buys groceries and refuses money for them, He takes us to the fair. And here he is at the door again wearing that puppy dog look. When I open it he holds out a letter. It's an offer for a PhD position at some ivy league. I almost cry, it's what I want for him but now he's really going and I think my heart will snap in two. Then he holds out three plane tickets and I do cry; not neatly like some movie star, but big messy sobs. He's just unbelievable. My stupid genius.
