ecological honeymoon - quotes and descriptions to inspire creative writing
Old Maisy had a cabin that overlooked a mountain lake, she'd spent her girlhood summers there later visited with her own children. Then one day as middle age advanced, she had it made-over as a honeymoon suite for local couples. If they were prepared to hike up there, it was theirs for a few weeks. That way she said they got their special time together without having to fly all over the world. She said that nature is beautiful everywhere and we only have to open our eyes to that truth. And her act of kindness was the start of so many more, it began a local tradition for ecological honeymoons. It was something that made our town special.
We could have flown around the world I suppose, yet what we needed was soulful time with one another, to settle after the whirlwind of the marriage. So we took the train to the big city and stayed in a five star hotel. We intended to stay in suite ordering room service anyway, so what did location matter?
We rode our bikes along the coast, visiting small towns and villages. We stopped at the cafes and had wonderful inns to stay in. There were days we stayed in one place for a while, exploring a little deeper. There were times we came to a larger town and sought out a day-spa for massages and pampering. But our favourite times of all where when we sat on hills with grass all around, amid the birdsong, near rivers that chattered, eating sandwiches and green apples, each of us telling sillier and sillier stories of the cloud-shapes that sailed above. That was our ecological honeymoon, no air miles, just peddle miles.
When you're with the right person, wherever you are is the right place.
