Upon the trapeze were the most stunning athletes you would find anywhere. They made it appear that humans really were born to fly, born to do so much more than most believe. Each of them was dressed in sequins, the boys and the girls, and they reflected the light as if was drawn to them, as if it took the same delight as the dawn does in igniting colours to maximal brightness.

Upon the trapeze, their limbs were the artist's brush and the big-top was their canvas. Together they created a picture, one of humans making the impossible happen, reaching for stars and feeling the starts reach back.

Upon that trapeze they were birds. They flew. They had their dance with one another, and with gravity too. I saw their movements yet heard them as a silent music; art can do that.

The trapeze was the great dance of hope, faith and bravery. It was showing us that we could learn how to take such great leaps and trust that another would be there to catch us.
