Black lacy ribbons woven through rows of eyelets were pulled with a steady grace until what was once an open wound was an almost invisible scar of white.

One day a puzzle piece fell from my heart, as if it no longer belonged there.

Hold every bad memory in your left hand; every good memory in your right. Now hold every one of them in your brain at the same time, an awareness without words. Then realise how much we invent at the interface between the world of dreams and memory, how great we are at creating our own fictions to enable us to handle our emotions and navigate our world. In each hand the memories have been transformed into a fine and fertile earth, it rains to your feet, the richness from which all your future grows. You are your own best healer my love, it is right there in your brain, the power to transform yourself.

My love, if you want to heal lower your stress levels. Learn to love again. Love nature and sunshine, love laughter and good times. Love those who love you and be at peace with others. Love moving with joy and allowing your heart to guide you. See with your heart and listen with your eyes as much as with your ears. Love yourself too, because then you will have the serenity to help others, to be the calmness they need to co-regulate from. Remember that solitude is a form of personal peace, yet it is one without frontiers - remain open even when alone.

Creating art heals the brain from the bottom up, rising in emotion and the metaphors of dreams. The intellect heals from the top down, with reason and logic. I believe that's why we love the arts so much, why we need them. They spark healing in both directions, calling to the emotions and the higher mind all at once.
