Be a leader who is a servant - both 'tall' and humble. The wise chief is one who is so loved that the community come to them and ask the questions they need answers to. The leader's answers are wonderful and right because of their love for the community, because their only motivation is to help. That's why I want you to lead, to stand up tall, with all that love... and speak with a quiet voice that enables others and heals humankind.

"When you are so powerful, and you are with that pen of yours, you are the servant; a giant must lay themselves low and become the landscape for others to play on, as if they are not there at all. And a true master is happy to do so, to let them scale mountains and plant their flags of victory on lollipop sticks, smiles wide at being so very tall - those very clever girls and boys.

Those you see on the platforms, they wouldn't even be able to see over your baby toe if you really stood up... when a master leads, the people have no idea they are being led... and so your gift is your curse, your strength is your weakness, and I'm going to have to ask you to be so very humble and giving because there is no other good way out of this mess. You are "mother," telling them cute stories because that's what mother's do. They are the clever ones who will flaunt that they got there without your help, even as they bruise you and expect you to smile onwards.

For this job of saving them all, only you applied, foolish and brave, noble and so infinitely clever... your last lesson is humility... and as they take all the wheels you invented and claim them to be so very obvious... just remember that no matter how low you feel, you are a giant in my eyes... I see you there, crouching with that heart of pure love."

As Zac spoke his eyes followed the leaves on a tree outside, moving in a summer breeze. "Leaders are only leaders if you follow them. 'Just following orders' will never be an excuse again, not that it ever really was. Everything we do must be guided by love. Power is the poison in our veins, empathy is the antidote."

Stevie was a natural born leader. He listened more than he spoke, but when he did speak it was with the kind of even paced certainty that folks listen to. He was never quick to judgement, always considered every angle first, and he was above all compassionate in his ways. He strove to do no harm in all he did. When it came to the tasks he always pushed himself to the limits. And through his example his team pushed themselves too, and that's why they always won. Stevie always praised the team, but we knew they'd be nothing without their leader. He was the glue that held them together.

Mack was the leader of the gang. Maybe it was his instinct for cruelty that made the others respect him...or fear him. They knew that if they didn't do what was expected they'd end up in the emergency room, or worse. Mack ruled with an iron fist, whatever he said went. And there was no leaving the gang, the gang was for life - however short that turned out to be. If you tried to leave Mack wouldn't just come after you, he'd come after your loved ones too. That's the kind of leader he was, no morals, no conscience, no compassion. He modelled himself on his favourite gangsters in the movies, he thought he had style. He was the king of all he surveyed and none dared question his orders.

“The world works in a way that you will always have a leader” He went on. “The men of this village follow their chief, that chief is meant to follow our Jarl Bergi just as Jarl Bergi follows the Gods, all men therefore must kneel to the gods”.

"Pete, I need you to calm that inner hurricane and think, for a thinking population is a free one. The rise of the machine has given us a decline of the body; the rise of the computer has given us a decline of the mind. Yet technology is only a tool, and we can choose to use it differently. That which subjugates us, can free us. There is real wisdom out there; seek and you shall find."
